Ryhmämuotoisuuden mahdollisuudet kuntoutuksessa nuorten aikuisten kuvaamana

This study examines the opportunities provided by group-based rehabilitation from the perspective of young adults not in education, employment or training. In studying the opportunities offered by group-based rehabilitation, perspectives that iIluminate sociaI groups and identity were duly highlighted. The results indicate that the opportunities offered by group-based rehabilitation as experienced by young adults were mostly positive, as they associated them with experiences of exposing themselves to social situations, belonging to a group community, self-disclosure, feeling similarity, and acceptance. The risks of group-based rehabilitation were also brought up, but mainly hypothetically and in relation to previous group experiences. Some prerequisites associated with the structure, principle and participants of a group were identified as enabling positive outcomes. The study suggests that focusing rehabilitation on working-life preparedness or social skills is not enough, but rather that working with identity issues using a participant-based approach is needed.
