Over the last years many companies have shift their focus to multi-sourcing the aim to improve quality and cost. With this shift service’s management and in-tegration have become more complex and challenging. This requires both IT-organization more efficient service management from broader service provid-ers. The purpose of this study is to examine network monitoring’s possibility to productise when it’s operating in multi-vendor environment and to study ITIL- and SIAM-frameworks functionality as well as the suitability of the company’s needs from the perspective of productisation.

This study was conducted as a qualitative case study. Research work was done by literature review and semi-structured theme interviews carried out a qualita-tive study. The data was collected by interviewing a total of 11 service manag-ers and leaders who were able to tell the essential themes of the research prob-lem on its own experience and opinions.

The results of the study show that the network monitoring cannot be consid-ered as salable service in it’s current form. Network monitoring is seen as ser-vice for further development, whereby it could offer more sales arguments and would be productised. The description of network monitoring could also im-prove or to specify, that it would be better understood by every customer. Network monitoring can be seen, however, working as homogenous and re-producible for different customers or services and customers can be found fre-quent need. The homogeneity and repeatability is seen in basic issues, but cus-tomer-specific customizations do not necessarily don’t and variety can be seen to happen between customers internationally produced. SIAM-framework can be seen bring homogeneity between different suppliers. On the other hand SI-AM-framework’s implementation would take some time and money. It would require patience from company to get expected benefits and it does not neces-sarily produce expected results at first.
