The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to find out the ethical issues involved in using artificial intelligence in the public sector. The study is performed through a literature review. For a closer look at these issues, the paper presents definitions of artificial intelligence, ethics and the public sector. Utilization of artificial intelligence is constantly increasing in the public sector, while changing the processes and ways of acting. Artificial intelligence in governmental activities is often seen as a source of ethical problems, but at the same time it opens many positive opportunities, for example through the quality and efficiency improvement. It can also contribute to positive changes in ethical and social acceptability when used properly. Due to the increasing introduction of artificial intelligence, there has been debate about the sufficiency of current legislation, as no official laws have been enacted on artificial intelligence.
