During the last few years we have witnessed the use of information technology in teaching grow exponentially. Governments all around the world are investing more and more money and resources in developing their school systems to tackle future obstacles. At the same time there is a growing need for distance learning. In this study I will explore how electronic learning materials and learning environments differ from traditional physical learning materials and learning environments. Second, I will examine what kind of benefits and disadvantages electronic learning materials and environments and on the other hand the traditional physical learning materials and environments have. Third, I will research what kinds of technologies are used in electronic learning materials and environments. This study is a literature review so all the facts are based on previous research.
