Espacenet is a free service on the internet provided by the European Patent Organisation through the EPO and the national offices of its members states. Using espacenet via one of the national office websites, it is possible to search all the patent applications published by any national office in the European Patent Organisation. A hit list provides access to the full bibliographic details of the documents, plus an image of each of the pages. Patent information from countries other than EPO members: bibliographic data and an English-language abstract for documents. Patentti- ja rekisterihallituksen yhdessä Euroopan patenttiviraston kanssa tuottama maksuton Espacenet-patenttitietopalvelu sisältää tietoa suomalaisista patenttihakemuksista, muiden EPO-jäsenvirastojen hakemuksista sekä PCT-hakemuksista. Viitteissä bibliografiset tiedot ja kuvat dokumentin sivuista. Tietopankissa on kahdenlaisia tietokantoja, kansallisia tietokantoja ja maailmanlaajuinen patenttitietokanta. Maailmanlaajuinen tietokanta Worldwide kattaa tunnistetietoja ja patenttijulkaisuja useista kymmenistä maista ja monista aina 1800 luvulta ja numerosta 1 alkaen. Sieltä saa myös patenttiperheen ja voimassaolotietoja monista maista. Kansallisessa tietokannassa FI-Espacenet on tunnistetiedot kaikista julkiseksi tulleista suomalaisista patenttihakemuksista ja näistä hakemuksista sittemmin myönnetyt patentit.

Palvelu sisältää perustiedot niihin liittyvine kuvineen sekä ne kansainväliset mallioikeusrekisteröinnit, joissa Suomi on nimetty kohdemaaksi. The database includes information about all US patents (including utility, design, reissue, plant patents and SIR documents) from the first patent issued in 1790 to the most recent patent issue week. The data included in the patents appear as printed on the patent on the day of issue. Changes to patent documents contained in Certificates of Correction and Re-examinations Certificates are not included in the searchable full-text of the patent databases, but are available as additional full-page images at the end of each patent's linked full-page images. Some patents and images have been excluded from the database.
