Help with JYKDOK

Logging in and your account

Log in to JYKDOK if you want to manage your personal account details, loans, payments and reservation info, renew your loans, or reserve an item. When logged in, you can save your searches and favourites for later use. JYU students and staff can also use library e-materials from off campus with their own user accounts.

Logging in

Click on Login to log in to JYKDOK using either your library card or user account.

Using your library card

  • library barcode = barcode on your library card without spaces
  • password = your personal password is added when you activate your library card in the library. Note! It must be alphanumeric (no special characters and symbols) and between 4 and 12 characters long. It is also case sensitive. The default password is the user's birthday and month (4 digits, ddmm).
  • If you forget your password you can get a new one by visiting the library service point in person, changing it yourself in JYKDOK or in the MyJYU app, or it can be sent to you by email.

Using your JYU user account (Haka Authentication)

  • Enter your username and password.
  • Please note! To be able to see your account in JYKDOK when using Haka login, link your library card to your JYU credentials.
  • The next time you log into your personal account you can do it either with your library card or with Haka authentication.

When you leave the computer, end your session by first clicking your name and then Log Out.

Favourites

  • To add your searches to your own favourites, click the pin symbol.
  • References are first saved in My favourites, where you can move or copy them to the list of your choice, send them by email or export in MARC format.

Saved searches and alerts

All of your searches are saved for the time of the session. Go to Saved searches to see your recent searches. To store important references separately click Save next to the reference. After closing the session, you will find the references under Saved searches. To delete search results or empty the whole search history, click the X icon under the heading Delete.

Receive new references daily, weekly or every 30 days using Alerts based on criteria you provide. The results will be delivered to your email.

Loans

On this page, you can browse and renew your loans after you have added a library card to your account.

Reservations

On this page, you can see any items you have reserved. You can also cancel your reservations. If your reservation is waiting for pick-up, you can cancel it by sending an email to jykneuvonta@library.jyu.fi.

Storage retrieval requests

Request an item by clicking Place a storage retrieval request. To follow the processing of your requests, go to My account and choose Storage retrieval requests.

As the request is being processed, the date of when you created the request is shown next to the title.

You will be notified by email when the request has been processed and the book is ready for you to collect. Go to My account to check the pickup location and the date by which the book must be checked out from the library.

To cancel a request for an item, send email to jykneuvonta@library.jyu.fi.

Fines

Click Fines to see the fines you have incurred, i.e. how much there is to pay and why.

If your fines are more than 10 euros, your borrowing rights will be suspended until you pay the required fees.

You can pay the fines online or at the library service point with a payment card.

Online payments

You can pay fines via Finnish online banks, MobilePay or with a payment card.

  • The minimum payment is €3.

When paying online, the whole sum has to be paid at once, i.e. you cannot change the sum. If your fines are more than 10 euros, your borrowing rights will be suspended until you pay the required fees. If your rights have been suspended, it is not possible to renew loans during that time. If you cannot renew an item because it has been reserved by another user, overdue fines will accumulate until you return the item.

Please note! If you have received an invoice concerning an unreturned loan, it cannot be paid online in JYKDOK. You can still pay overdue fines and the invoicing charge of €10 online. If you return the item after the invoice has been sent, the price of the book can be reduced from the invoice. More information about returning loans and invoicing.

Service charges.

How to pay online:

  • Log in to JYKDOK. Please note! If you use your JYU credentials to log in, you have to add your library card to your account, if you haven't done so already. Then your fines will be visible in JYKDOK.
  • Click Fines.
  • Click Pay online and follow the instructions on the screen.
  • When you have paid the fee, return to JYKDOK so that the payment is registered to the library's system without delay.

Library cards

To add a card, click Library cards and then Connect library/parallel card. Here you can save the details of several library cards (name of the library, library card number, password/PIN).

Profile

Finna settings

  • You can update the email address you use in JYKDOK. NOTE! Remember to inform the library separately of any changes to your email address.
  • You can request extra reminders for loans that are nearing their due date.

User information maintained by the library

  • You have access to your personal details in JYKDOK user register: name, address, email address, phone number, hold identifier and (when applicable) a suspension of borrowing rights.
  • To inform the library about new contact information, use the Request address change form.

Changing your password/PIN code

To change your password or PIN code, go to Profile.
